Sylvia Ruth Kiser Hooper, 78, passed away Friday, April 25, 2014. She was born in Mecklenburg County, NC on November 1, 1935 daughter of the late John Houston and Ruth Ann Hunneycutt Kiser. Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Donald and John, Jr. Sylvia was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church, member of Rolling Hills Country Club, where she played golf and bridge. She enjoyed cruises, living in and traveling in Europe. She is survived by her husband, Bill, a sister, Pat Howard, brothers, Charles and Ronnie Kiser and spouses, nieces and nephews, step-sons, Allen, Glenn, Duane and spouses, 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends Thursday, May 1, 2014 from 12:00 until 12:45 PM at Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Ave., Monroe, NC 28112, followed by a memorial service at 1:00 PM in the Gordon Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in memory of Sylvia to Hospice Palliative Care, 1420 E 7th St., Charlotte, NC 28204 or St. John’s Episcopal Church, 1623 Carmel Rd., Charlotte, NC 28226 Online condolences may be made at www.gordonfuneralservice.com
