Ted Smith

On Tuesday, June 11, 2024, heaven gained another warrior. Mr. Ted Smith left this earthly world and entered his eternal home at the age of 83.

He was born on the 16th of February 1941, to the late Oswald and Hattie Davis Smith of Union County, NC. He is also preceded in death by his wife of 59 years Judy Smith; sister Lillian McCoy; three brothers, Roy Smith, Curtis Smith, and baby Joe; and one grandchild, Jeremy Champion.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 14, 2024, at Lakeland Memorial Park Cemetery, 1901 Lancaster Ave, Monroe, NC 28112. Mr. Smith will lie in state on Thursday, June 13, 2024, from 12:00 PM until 5:00 PM at Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Ave, Monroe, NC 28112.

Mr. Smith was a loving, devoted husband and father. He loved gardening, walking in the woods behind his home, tractor shows, tinkering with cars, and teaching his daughters how to fix things for themselves. He knew no strangers and was always willing to help someone with a problem big or small. He could always turn a frown into a smile. He will be missed deeply and loved always.

Mr. Smith is survived by his daughters, Yvette Smith of Charlotte, Macie Myers (Mike) of Monroe, Jessica Smith of Marshville, and Jennifer Smith of Marshville; grandchildren, Stephen McCain (Mandy), Ted McCain (Vickie), Tyler Champion, Christian Myers and seven great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society of Charlotte, 1901 Brunswick Ave, Suite 100, Charlotte, NC 28207
