Teresa Dianne Rape

Teresa Dianne “Terri” Rape, born April 6, 1963 in Monroe, NC, the daughter of Emmie Louise Melton Rape and the late James Argrove Rape, died on December 7, 2015 at her home. Terri’s formal education included graduation from Monroe High School in 1981 and earning a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business from Wingate University in 1985. Her career was spent in public service with Union County Public Schools as Office Administrator of the Union County Career Center, which became Central Academy of Arts and Technology (“CATA”). One principal coined her “The Face of CATA.” Visitation will be Friday, December 11, 2015 from 4:00 until 6:00 PM at Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Ave., Monroe, NC 28112. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 12, 2015 at 11:00 am in the Gordon Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Lakeland Memorial Park. Terri is survived by her mother, Louise Rape; four aunts, Mary Lee Mangum, Sue Melton Laney, Linda Melton Braswell and Rhonda Melton Price and her uncle, Doug Melton. Terri is also survived and mourned by her adopted family, C. Billy Tyson; Trina Holt Tyson, Bryan L. and Kimberly Tyson of Charlotte and Dr. Julia A. Tyson of Boone, NC. Terri’s delights were her five “nieces/nephew” Alice Olivia, Audrey Evelyn, Adam Edward, Trina Jennifer and Mary Teresa Tyson, to whom she was godmother. Terri loved her work and the untold number of students, faculty, staff and administrators with whom she shared a love of life, a passion for public service, a dedication to caring for others and an energy for excellence. She will be dearly missed and remembered. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be directed to Wingate University for the Teresa D.
