Thomas Joseph Brooks

Thomas Joseph Brooks Mr. Brooks, 64, of Charlotte, died Friday, May 22, 2009, at his home. Funeral service will be Tuesday, May 26, 2009, at 12:00 Noon at Gordon Funeral Service of Monroe, 1904 Lancaster Ave., Monroe, NC 28112. Burial will be at Forest Lawn East Memorial Park. The Brooks family will receive friends from 10:00 -12:00 Tuesday prior to the service at the funeral home. Mr. Brooks was born February 1, 1945, in New York, NY, the son of Margaret Ford Brooks Hyde and the late Julius C. Brooks. He was a member of The Knights of Columbus and the national and local Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Unions. He was employed as an industrial service technician with York for over 25 years and most recently employed with Mechanical Systems and Services of Charlotte. Tom was an avid reader who enjoyed time at his second home at Ocean Isle Beach, motor cycles, boating and many dear friends. In addition to his mother Margaret B. Hyde and husband Earnest of Shallotte he is survived by his wife, Joan K. Brooks, son, Thomas Joseph Brooks, Jr. of Ocean Isle Beach, NC, daughter Joan Patricia Brooks of Little River, SC, brothers, Peter Brooks of, AL and Joseph Brooks of New Jersey, Grandson, Travis Deese of Mt. Holly and aunt, Louise Keller of Mint Hill. He was preceded in death by a beloved uncle, Walter Keller. Condolences may be made at www.gordonfuneralservice.com.
