Thomas Melborne Broome, 69, passed away Wednesday, October 5, 2016. He was born October 12, 1946 in Lancaster County, SC son of the late Cecil Adams and Lula Mae Robinson Broome. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, October 7, 2016, in Gordon Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Lakeland Memorial Park. Thomas is survived by his wife Joyce; one son, Rusty Broome and wife, Lori, of Charlotte; four grandchildren, Grant, Grayson, Alex, and Kendell Broome of Charlotte; brother, Joey Broome and wife, Nancy, of Monroe; sister-in-law, Judy Whitley and husband, Max, of Waxhaw; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, William Broome. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Friday, October 7, 2016, from 12:30 PM to 1:45 PM at Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Ave., Monroe, NC 28112. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Levine Cancer Center, 1021 Morehead Medical Dr, Charlotte, NC 28204 or Hospice of Union County, 700 W. Roosevelt Blvd., Monroe, NC 28110.
