Thomas Patrick Dillon, Sr. passed away peacefully on Sunday, August, 28, 2016 at Lake Park Rehab Nursing with his family by his side. He is survived by his wife Mary Sis Andrews Stack Dillon, his daughter Mary Marshall Dillon Winn, his son-in-law Charles Tripp B. Winn, III and two grandchildren, Charles B. Winn, IV Jordan Marshall Winn. He's also survived by his brother-in-law James E. Stack. The welcoming party waiting to greet him in heaven included his beloved son, Thomas Patrick Dillon, Jr., his parents Frank Wolfe Dillon Mildred Plyler Dillon and many other family members and friends. Tom was born in Monroe, NC on August 9, 1928. He graduated from Monroe High School Duke University. His love for the Monroe Hardware Company began when he was a young child going on sales calls with his uncle Worth Plyler. He eventually went on to become President of the company. He was involved in many civic philanthropic organizations because he felt he had a duty an obligation to give back to the community. He pledged his heart, soul, money some other people's money to try and improve the town, the county and the lives of other people. And you can't think of Tom Dillon without remembering his love for jokes, telling stories and his incredibly contagious laugh. He also had quite a few pearls of wisdom humor. 1) I over married. I highly recommend it! 2) Whatever she says. (referring to his beloved wife). 3) You don't have to explain anything you don't say. 4) I don't think I'm going to get roasted. I think I'm going to get fried! (about being the subject of a roast for Turning Point) 5) Damn! I wish I'd graduated from here! (Said at his daughter's UNC graduation. His lifelong dream of going to UNC was cut 8 miles short when he learned that the Navy only had openings at Duke Washington St. He even lettered @ Duke as a diver, but his blood always ran Carolina Blue.) 6) We need to be soldiers for Christ. Get out and do it, just do it. I can't walk away from something I should help on. (talking about his involvement in the community). There will be a private service at St. Paul's in the garden where his ashes will be interred in the columbarium. The family would like to thank the staff at Lake Park for going above beyond over the past few years especially the past few months. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Alzheimer's Association or any charity of your choice. Gordon Funeral Service Crematory is caring for the Dillon Family.
