Thomas Lalley

Thomas J. Lalley, 79, died at home in Indian Trail surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, April 18, 2012. He was born January 1, 1933 in Scranton, PA, one of eight children of John D. Lalley and Marjorie Kelley Lalley. Mr. Lalley graduated from the University of Scranton and attended the Catholic University School of Law. He served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Hickox, DD673. On August 23, 1958 he was married to Joyce M. Stone at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Washington, DC. He spent 41 years in the insurance industry in various capacities. He earned the Certified Insurance Counselor designation and was co-founder and executive officer of Lalley and Little Insurance Agency. He retired from Computer Sciences Corporation as underwriting manager for the National Flood Insurance Program. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Robert and a sister, Jule Ann Lalley. He is survived by his wife, a son, Timothy and wife Kristie, two daughters, Peg Farrell and husband, Ben, and Kate Poindexter and husband Darren, four grandchildren, Sean Lalley and wife Rochelle, Matthew Lalley, Christopher Lalley and Angela Farrell, two great grandchildren, Caden and Kennady Lalley, five brothers, John, Paul, William, Dennis and Patrick Lalley, and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Lalley was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Monroe, NC where he served as a lector, on the parish council, as capital campaign chairman and on the finance council. He also served on the board of the Charlotte Diocese Catholic Social Services. Rosary services will be held Friday, April 20, 2012 at 6:00 PM followed by the visitation until 8:00 PM at Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Ave., Monroe, NC 28112. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Saturday, April 21, 2012 at 12:00 noon. Burial will be private at a later date.
