Tommie Griffin (Gordon) Hill

Tommie Viola Griffin Hill, 91, passed away Sunday, September 25, 2011. She was born in Union County, NC on November 15, 1919 daughter of the late Oscar Howell and Minnie Pressley Gordon. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2011 at 11:00 AM in Sandy Ridge Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Hill was preceded in death by her husbands Hoyle T. Griffin and Roy Hill, two grandchildren, Christine Bishop and Nancy Gainey. She is survived by a son, Hoyle Griffin and wife Carolyn of Waxhaw, daughters, Gilbertine Helms of Monroe and Ruth Bishop of Mint Hill, brother, Leonard Gordon of Monroe, step-sons, Tony Hill and wife Sybil, Donny Hill and wife Shirley, both of Monroe, step-daughter, Carol Couick and husband Jim of Waxhaw, 13 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 at Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Ave., Monroe, NC 28112.
