Tommy Floyd Moore

July 26, 1941 — September 22, 2024

Tommy Floyd Moore, 83, of Monroe, NC met Jesus face to face on Sunday, September 22, 2024. He was born in Union County, NC on July 26, 1941, son to the late Floyd Alexander Moore and Lucille Helms Moore. He is also preceded in death by brother, Terry Moore, sister, Phyllis Starnes, and one great-grandchild, Elaine Grace Moore.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, September 27, 2024, at Calvary Baptist Church, 2518 Lancaster Hwy, Monroe, NC 28112, with burial to follow in Lakeland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends in the church prior to the service from 12:30 PM until 1:45 PM.

Tommy loved his Lord and Savior, his family, and his church. He was a charter member of Calvary Baptist of Monroe where he served faithfully in many ways including as a deacon, as a choir member, and many years spent working alongside his good friend Smith Wilson on the building and grounds committee. He was as honest as the day is long, was at one time known as The Mineral Springs Barber, then became a full-time pig farmer where roughly 400 pigs would be born every seven weeks. His two sons were his only employees, but what a blessing that was for Chris and Troy. He retired from Cox Brothers’ Farms in 1999 after many years, but he never stopped working and never stopped tinkering. His high school nickname was “Tinker Moore.”

Tommy is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Carolyn Cox Moore, his sons, Chris Moore and Troy Moore (Lisa), his brother Gary Moore (Lorraine), his sister Sandy Moore, and grandchildren Emily Sparks (Chris), Grant Moore (Taylor), Carley Davis (Brodie), and Christopher Moore, as well as six great-grandchildren (Everette, Izzy, Raylan, Marshall, Evie and Dean) who brought so much joy to “PawPaw Tom”.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 2518 Lancaster Hwy, Monroe, NC 28112.
