Varon L. Austin

Varon LaGrant Austin, 88, passed away Wednesday, September 14, 2011. He was born in Union County, NC on July 11, 1923 son of the late Croffard and Ila Helms Austin. Mr. Austin retired from North Carolina Equipment Company. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 16, 2011, 11:00 AM at Sardis Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 10:45 at the church prior to the service. Mr. Austin is survived by his wife, Dorothy Cunningham Austin, a son, Randy Austin of Oakboro, a daughter, Diane Simmons of Monroe, a brother, Tom Austin of Columbia, SC, 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
