Vera Underwood Ammons, 69, of Matthews, passed away peacefully, Sunday, May 1, 2016, in her home. She was born August 13, 1946, in Union County, NC to the late Clayton Joseph Underwood and Edith Hemby Underwood. A service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, May 7, in the mausoleum at Lakeland Memorial Park, 1901 Lancaster Avenue, Monroe, NC 28112. The family will visit with relatives and friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday evening May 6, at Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Avenue, Monroe, NC 28112. A member of First Baptist Church Indian Trail, Ms. Ammons enjoyed shopping and traveling, most especially to the beach. Known for always having fun, she enjoyed being around others and never met a stranger. She is survived by her two sons, Brian Huncke and wife, Dina, of Indian Trail, and Chris Huncke of Matthews; and sisters, Kaye Moore of Mint Hill and Barbara Driggers of Utah.
