Vicki Myrick Penegar

Vicki Myrick Penegar, 77, passed away on Sunday, June 8, 2025. She was born in Union County, NC on November 6, 1947 to the late Irving Lee Myrick and Peggy Evelyn Howard.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 13, 2025 in the Chapel of Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Ave. Monroe, NC 28112 with interment to follow at Lakeland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 12, 2025 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Gordon Funeral Service. The family will be wearing pastel colors in honor of Vicki. Vicki was a loving wife and mother with a whimsical spirit, a deep love for the Lord, and a heart full of joy. She especially loved the color pink and found beauty in the small things. She spent her working years alongside her husband at the office, and in retirement discovered a new passion at the Bazemore Center, where she fell in love with pottery. She found joy in creating crosses and birds adorned with scripture, which she lovingly gave to others as tokens of her faith and kindness. Her wit, wisdom, and warmth will continue to echo in the hearts of those who loved her. One of her final words to her family and friends was: “Don’t do anything stupid.”

Vicki is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Dr. Joel Lynn Penegar; son, Stefan Penegar and wife Amanda; three daughters, Darla McFall and husband Robert, Vanessa Medlin and husband Brian, Christina Penegar; siblings, Debbie Joyner, Jami Sinclair and husband Calvin, Paulette Garrett and husband Steve, Jon Luther and wife Linda; and eight grandchildren, Seth, Alexandra, Adeline, Isabella, Samuel, Evelyn, Ava, and Bennett.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Friends of Bazemore, a non-profit that supports the senior adult center, 500 W. Jefferson St. Monroe, NC 28112.
