Virginia Lee Kindley Braswell, 85, of Monroe, NC passed away at home surround by her loving family on Friday, March 26, 2021. She was born in Union County, on October 30, 1935, the daughter of the late Roy and Melissa Clontz Kindley. She was also preceded in death by her devoted husband of 64 years Mr. James Bengie Braswell, and brother, Grady Kindley, sisters; Mary Hazel Kizer and Faye Broadway. A funeral service will be held at 2:00PM Friday, April 2, 2021 at Zion United Methodist Church, 1521 Old Fish Road, Monroe, NC 28110 with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives Thursday, April 1, 2021 from 6:00PM until 8:00PM at Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Hwy. Monroe, NC 28112. The family ask those in attendance to please follow the social distance and mask mandate order for both services. She owned and operated Union County H&R Block from 1971 to 2000, expanding to three Union County locations; Monroe, Marshville, and Indian Trail. She was a very active and devoted member of Zion United Methodist Church where she served in several capacities including serving as a district officer for the United Methodist Women. During her children’s elementary years, she was a very active leader with the Fairview Elementary PTO. She will always be remembered as a fabulous southern cook which included her infamous “stickies”. Dearly loved by her family, church, and community, she will be greatly missed by all that knew her. Virginia is survived by her son Bryan Braswell (Megan) of Monroe, two daughters; Vada Tucker (David) of Waxhaw and Melia Haigler (Sidney) of Monroe, a brother, R.A. Kindley (Elsie) of Monroe, a sister, Dean Kindley of Tallahassee, FL. five grandchildren; Brandon Braswell, Carlan Santana, Dylan Tucker, Kirby Haigler and Karis Haigler, seven step-grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and several nieces and nephews.
