Dateline: Marshville, NC Virginia Smith Tarlton, 80, died Wednesday, January 30, 2008. She was born in Union County, NC on August 27, 1927 daughter of the late Sandy S. and Fannie Simpson Smith. Mrs.Tarlton was a retired farmer. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 1, 2008 at 11:00 AM at Fairfield Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Tarlton was preceded in death by husband, Joel Tarlton, sons, Jerry and Arnold Tarlton and grandson Lynn Tarlton. She is survived by a grandson, William Chad Tarlton, of the home, daughter-in-law, Gail Tarlton Baucom, of Wingate, great granddaughters, Mary Allison Tarlton and Savannah Brooke Tarlton, both of Waxhaw, brother, Sandy Junior Smith of Marshville, daughter and husband, Betty and Theron Briley, and grandsons, Todd and Kevin Briley all of Gastonia. Special thanks to Ms. Sue Sweat for helping us with my grandmother and Union Family Practice doctors, especially Dr. Patil and Dr. Wise and the nurses of Rooms # 327 and 407 at CMC-Union, Dr. Johnson Daymark. You not only cared and ministered to my grandmother but also to my mother and me. To Fairfield Baptist Church for all your prayers, to SPCC (HRD) and Mineral Springs Fertilizer for allowing my mother and me to have the last two weeks to care for my grandmother-William Chad Tarlton.
