Wanda Carol (Crook) Short

Carol C. Short, 67, passed into eternal life Wednesday September 7, 2016. She was born October 9, 1948 in Union County, NC. She is preceded in death by her father Clarence W. Crook, infant niece, Robin Carol Crook; and infant nephew, Robert Carl Crook, Jr. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, September 10, 2016 in Altan Presbyterian Church. The family will visit prior to the service from 10:00 AM until 10:45 AM. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. She attended Altan Elementary Parkwood High Schools, graduating in 1966. She retired from Federal Reserve Bank in Charlotte in 2009, having worked there for 11 years. She gave her heart to Christ on August 18, 1967 in her old home church, Altan Presbyterian. At her death, she was a member of First Baptist Church of Indian Trail, joining there on October 6, 1991. She served as a ladies class teacher for four years and as a warrior in the Intercessory Prayer Ministry, beginning in July of 2007. The Prayer Ministry was the greatest blessing of her life, as she considered this her highest calling. She is survived by her mother, Genevieve C. Collins; stepfather, Hoover Collins; brother Robert Carl Crook (Janet) of Monroe, two nephews, Joseph Daniel Crook of SC, and John Mark Crook, of Monroe; one stepsister, Angelo Collins of Ohio. She leaves behind special lifelong friends whom we wanted to thank for every kindness before, and during her illness. Special thanks to Dr. Brouse and his staff at Levine Cancer Center, and her Sunday School class at FBCIT. Special recognition goes to her aunt, Carlene Courtney, who went far and above what was expected to help her through the end of her journey.
