Warren Austin Ellis, age 96, departed this life on Sunday, April 7, 2024. He was born in Roan Mountain, Tennessee on January 30, 1928, son to the late Richard Ellis and Hattie Mae Julian Ellis.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at Lakeland Memorial Park, 1901 Lancaster Ave, Monroe, NC 28112.

Warren is survived by his wife of 70 years, Barbara Griffin Ellis, son Jim Ellis (Mary Ellis), three grandchildren, Mary Anna Ellis, Dan Brooks, and Ben Brooks, and six great-grandchildren.

He was a US Navy veteran serving on the USS Helena. He then attended college completing his formal Education with a master’s degree. A lifelong educator, Warren retired From the NC Dept of Public Instruction in 1979.

He was much loved and will be greatly missed.
