Wattie Carolyn Fowler Duncan, 89, passed away peacefully into her loving Savior’s arms Sunday, November 6, 2022, while surrounded by family. She was born in Union County, April 23, 1933, daughter of the late Justin Durant Fowler and Carrie Baucom Fowler. Carolyn is preceded in death by her daughter Denise Duncan Pigg; brothers J.D. Fowler, Marvin Fowler, Roy Fowler, and Edward Fowler; and her sister Meathel Nance.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Wednesday, November 9, 2022 at Hopewell Baptist Church Legacy Campus, 420 Hopewell Church Rd, Monroe, NC 28110 conducted by Rev. Dr. Lee Pigg and Rev. Brian Austin with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday, November 8, 2022 at Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Ave. Monroe, NC 28112.
Carolyn worked in banking for over 35 years. She loved her customers and was always there to help them. She served at Hopewell Baptist Church as a Sunday School teacher, treasurer, and on the Stewardship Committee and the Personnel Committee. Carolyn was also a member of the Pilot Club and Civitan Club.
Carolyn is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Jimmy Westley Duncan; daughters Lisa Phillips (Scott), Kara McManus (Alan); son-in-law Rick Pigg; grandchildren Carrie Hinson, Kelly Pigg, Brooke Phipps, Whitney Phillips, and Derrick McManus; and five great-grandchildren.
