Wayne Aubrey Ward

Wayne Aubrey Ward, 86, of Monroe, NC passed on Tuesday, March 7, 2023, after several years of declining health.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Sunday March 12, 2023 at Central United Methodist Church Sanctuary, 801 S. Hayne St. Monroe, NC 28112. The family will receive friends following the service in Central Hall.

A graveside service will be held 2:00 PM, Monday, March 13, 2023 at Hedrick’s Grove United Church of Christ, 3840 Allred Rd. Lexington, NC, 27292.

Mr. Ward was born on a dairy farm in Davidson County to the late Frank Ward and Ester Hedrick Ward. He graduated from North Carolina State University with two degrees; a BS degree in Animal Husbandry and a BS degree in Poultry Science. He was employed by the USDA and worked for Farmers Home Administration for 34 years. In 2002 he retired and worked part-time selling real estate.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his three brothers Franklin Ward, Charles Ward, and Ralph Ward; and three sisters Neaty Dougherty, Marie Michael, and Willa Veigh Thomas.

Wayne is survived by his wife Irene Brady Ward; son John Ward; daughter Susan Ward Ridenhour; and two grandchildren Will Ridenhour and Clark Ridenhour.
