Dateline: Monroe, NC Will Edward (Bill) Goodall, age 90, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 13, 2010. He was born January 22, 1920, in Lebanon, Tennessee, to the late Earl Carson Goodall and Ada Purnell Goodall. He was preceded in death by one of his sons, Albert Ronald (Ron) Goodall and by two sisters, Martha Belle Bobo and Era Earle Denton. He is survived by two brothers, Jack Goodall (Peggy) of Hartsville, Tennessee, and Walter Goodall (Zuelma) of Lebanon, Tennessee, and two sisters, Ann Paty and Dot Martin, both of Lebanon, Tennessee. On June 23, 1943, he was united in marriage to LeOla (Lee) Baucom, of Monroe, North Carolina. He was married for 65 years to Lee, who died October 10, 2008. They met while he was stationed at Monroe’s Camp Sutton during WWII. Mr. Goodall is also survived by his sons and their wives, Eddie and Carol and Jeff and Lonna; six grandchildren who knew him as “Paw Paw”, Jay (Laura) Goodall, Jeff (Amber) Goodall, Heather (Ken) Bryson, Jessica Goodall, Claire Goodall, and Justin Goodall; one great-granddaughter, Laya, five great-grandsons, Jeffrey III, Park, Beau, Harrison, and Christian. He graduated from Lebanon High School and attended Cumberland College. After training at Camp Sutton and Ft. Lee Virginia Mr. Goodall served his country during World War II as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Army in the China Burma India (CBI) theater. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, August 16, at Union Baptist Church, 4308 Old Pageland-Monroe Road, Monroe, NC 28112. Rev. Joe Hickson will officiate. Burial will be immediately following the service at Union Baptist Church cemetery. Relatives and friends are welcome for visitation at Gordon’s Funeral Home, 1904 Lancaster Avenue, Monroe, on Sunday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, at the family’s request memorial funds may be sent in his name to the Union Baptist Church- Cemetery Fund and may be sent to the church at the address above.
