William Eugene "Bill" Batson

William Eugene Batson (Bill), age 87, of Archdale, NC, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 30, 2025 at Atrium Health Hospice & Palliative Care Union surrounded by his loving family.

Bill was born on December 6, 1937 in Wilmington, NC to the late Jasper and Annie Scott Batson. He was preceded in death by his spouse, Tootsie, parents, and brothers, Tommy, Graham, Stacy and Dale.

He joined the United States Navy in 1954, where he served aboard the USS Midway and the USS Bennington and was honorably discharged in 1959. He then started his own company installing bank vaults and alarm systems until retiring to enjoy piloting an airplane, traveling the country and attending his military reunions.

Bill was a member of Pleasant Garden Baptist Church in Pleasant Garden, NC where he served on many boards and committees including the Military Honor Guard where he served as leader.

Bill is survived by one son, Marty Batson (Sandy) of Oak Island, NC, granddaughters, Lori Starnes (Ted) of Monroe, NC and Terri Giordano (Rick) of Hemby Bridge, NC, great-grandchildren Lauren Rainey (Dustin), Linsey Cooper (Chris), Justin Rollins (Mallory), Dustin Rollins, Christian Giordano (Grace), Austin Giordano (Jessica), Makayla Benton (Hayden), great-great-grandchildren Hailey, MaKinsley, Emersyn and River Rollins, Hilton and Beckham Cooper and Adeline and Amelia Giordano; one daughter, Tracy Williams of Marshville, NC, grandson, Matthew Harris (Sandra) of Wingate, NC, great-grandchildren, Mikayla, Kenzley, Peyton, Drew and Chloe; brother Ken Batson (Fran) and sisters, Kaaren Moore (Melvin) and Sandra Helms (Frankie) and one special friend JoAnn Moree (JoJo).

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2025 at 12:30 PM in Lakeland Memorial Park with military honors.
