Dateline: Monroe, NC William Neal “Bill” Corley, 78, of 1021 Folger Drive, Monroe, died peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Saturday, April 28, 2012 after a courageous year long battle with cancer. Funeral service will be 11:00am Wednesday at Central United Methodist Church, burial will follow at Lakeland Memorial Park. The Corley family will receive friends from 6-8pm Tuesday at Gordon Funeral Service. Bill was born August 27, 1933 in Chester, SC, son of the late Floyd Ervin Corley and Alma Roof Corley. He grew up in Rock Hill, SC and was a 1953 graduate of Rock Hill High School where he was a talented athlete. A gifted football player, he was selected to play in the 1952 Shrine Bowl. Bill was a veteran of the United States Army and served in the Korean War. He lived in Monroe since 1973 and was a dedicated employee of Kimbrell’s Furniture Corp for 35 years, retiring in 1995. Bill was a devoted husband and father and a beloved “PaPa” to all of his grandchildren, He will be sadly missed by the family he so dearly loved and who loved him so in return. He was a wonderfully joyful, kind hearted, loving man and a loyal friend to so many during his life. His steadfast love and faith in his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ was the guiding force by which he lived each day of his life. His life passions were serving God, loving his family and helping others. He was a faithful member of Central United Methodist Church in Monroe for 39 years where he joyfully served in many capacities. Bill also gave 37 years of dedicated service as a loyal member of the Monroe Civitan Club. Bill is survived by his wife of 54 years, Dorothy “Dot” Hord Corley, children, twin sons, Donald Corley of Wingate and Ronald Corley and wife Tammy of Wingate, daughter, Debbie Corley Puigcerver and husband Luis of Cary, NC, brother, Benny Corley and wife Oma of Lyman, SC, grandchildren, Jennifer, Brooke, Abby, and Carson Corley, Adam and Brittany Buskirk, William and Amy Puigcerver and Sarah Koren.
