William Kenneth Rushing

Mr. William Kenneth Rushing, 67, of Unionville, NC went home to be with his Lord Tuesday, July 18, 2006. Mr. Rushing was born June 12, 1939 in Union County, son of the late William Sanford and Velma Williams Rushing. He retired from Yale Security in Wingate after 31 years of service. “Big Kenneth” as he was known had a strong love for his church family at Hillcrest Baptist of Monroe. Over the years he enjoyed serving in so many different areas from deacon, trustee, cooking and working at summer youth camp. He also enjoyed activities such as camping with his family, hunting and fishing. His many years of love and service for his Lord, his church and his family will never be forgotten. A service to celebrate his life will be held Friday, July 21, 2006 at 1:00 PM at Hillcrest Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Rushing is survived by his wife of 45 years, Mrs. Mary Frances Mullis Rushing of the home, one daughter, Karen Rushing Helms and husband Tim, one son, William Kenneth Rushing, Jr. “Junior” and wife Jennifer all of Unionville, five grandchildren, who were the light of his life, Casey Helms and wife, Ashlyn, Cody Helms, Timothy Rushing, Harley Rushing and Kenda Huntley all of Unionville, three sisters, Pauline Polk, Colene Hinson and Mavis Smith all of Unionville. The family will receive friends Thursday evening, July 20, 2006 from 6:30 until 8:30 at Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Ave., Monroe. In lieu of flowers, Mr. Rushing request memorials be made to Hillcrest Baptist Church, Camp or Rest Home, 4316 Hillcrest Church Rd., Monroe, NC 28110.
