William Heath Nash, Jr., (77) of Monroe, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend passed away Thursday June 2, 2022 after a short illness at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Union County, NC June 6, 1944 son of the late William Heath Nash, Sr., and Gladys Price Nash, he is also preceded in death his brother John Steve Nash of Union County.

A celebration of his life will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, June 7, 2022, at Gordon Funeral Chapel, 1904 Lancaster Ave., Monroe, NC 28112. Interment will follow the service at Lakeland Memorial Park where family will greet friends afterwards. Friends and family are welcome to pay their respects on Monday, June 6, 2022 from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM at Gordon Funeral Service. The family will not be present during those hours.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 42 years Libby Thomas Nash; his loving daughter Kristen and husband Michael Plyler of Pageland, SC; his beautiful granddaughters Alannah, Ashlynn, and Anna Plyler, the great joy of his life; and step-daughter Karen Calder and husband Rob of Charlotte, NC. He is also survived by two wonderful sisters Martha Wallace of Monroe, NC, and Elizabeth “Lib” Austin of Wesley Chapel, NC.

For 32 years he served the City of Monroe diligently as Superintendent of Streets, the same position his father had held before him. Both were highly respected members of the community, known for their competence and dedication. They were men who knew how to get things done and done well. William Heath was a graduate of Parkwood High School and a Dale Earnhardt, Jr., NASCAR fan. He loved restoring vintage cars including a special, red ’55 Chevrolet worthy of any car show. To know William Heath was to know a friend. When he walked into the Palace or any of the other local restaurants he so enjoyed, he was among friends. They all knew his name. He was a good man whose life was full and well lived.
