William "Butch" Stewart

William “Butch” J. Stewart III passed peacefully on June 8, 2017 at Jesse Helms Nursing Center in Monroe, NC. Butch was born April 10, 1944 in Lubbock, Texas, son of Sara Secrest Stewart, and the late William J. Stewart II. He is also preceded in death by his son, Chad Stewart. A service celebrating the life of Mr. Stewart will be held 2:00 PM, Friday, June 9, 2017 in the chapel of Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Ave., Monroe, NC 28112 Butch is survived by his mother, Sara Stewart; wife, Pat Griffin Stewart; son, Shep Stewart (Katie); brother, Gene Stewart (Debra), and extended family. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Union County, 700 W. Roosevelt Blvd, Monroe and Lee Park Church, 2491 Morgan Mill Rd, Monroe.
