William Wendell Smith

William Wendell Smith, 61, died Friday, August 22, 2008. He was born in Mecklenburg County on July 26, 1947, son of the late William Lester and Lola Baucom Smith. Funeral services will be Sunday, August 24, 2008 at 2:30 PM in Gordon Funeral Chapel, 1904 Lancaster Avenue, Monroe, NC. Burial will follow in Lakeland Memorial Park. Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Brenda Scarboro Smith; a daughter, Lisa McEntire and husband, David of Rutherfordton, NC; a sister, Frances Crump of Indian Trail and two grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Union County, 700 W. Roosevelt Blvd., Monroe, NC 28110. The family will receive friends Sunday, August 24, 2008 from 1:00 – 2:15 PM at Gordon Funeral Chapel. At other times, the family will be at the home of Linda Jenkins, 714 S.
