Wilma Baucom McCollum, 83, of Monroe died on February 1, 2012 at Autumn Care of Marshville. She was born on June 14, 1928 in Monroe, NC and was the daughter of the late Inez Bass Baucom and Preston Baucom Sr. of Monroe. She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas Howard McCollum. Wilma grew up in the Benton Heights section of Monroe and graduated from Benton Heights High School. She married Thomas Howard McCollum on September 2, 1945. She was a homemaker and partner with her husband in their farming operation and was very active in the Farm Bureau organization as well as the North Carolina Extension and Community Association, Medicare Help Center in Monroe, Wingate University and Wingate Methodist Church. She is survived by her brother, Preston Baucom Jr. of Monroe, sister, Viola Baucom Moore of Charlotte, sister-in-law, Ann M. Neese (Kenneth) of Lumberton, NC and sister-in-law, Jean M. Mercer of Akron, OH. Her nieces and nephews include Kenneth E. Neese III (Jane) of Monroe, Jan M. Slaven (Mark) of Charlotte, John M. Neese (Diane) of Lumberton, Gary Moore (Debbie) of Apollo Beach, FL, Margo Bishop of North Highlands, CA, Barbara Boyce (John) of Monroe and Pam Edwards (Steve) of Monroe. The family will receive friends Saturday, February 4, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Ave., Monroe, NC 28112 followed by the funeral service at 3:00 PM in the Gordon Funeral Chapel.
